On August 27, 1927, Marlin August Sollman was given the gift of life, and spent the next 90 years giving it back.

Born to Edward and Elsie Sollman, Marlin grew up alongside his brothers on the soil of Haubstadt, Indiana, that set the foundation for his life.

In high school, Marlin danced away with the heart of Eljean Catherine (Benkert) Sollman, and they later married July 21, 1949, enjoying 68 years of marriage together.

He retired from ASCS and Farm Service Agency as District Director after 33 years.  His appreciation for nature was as deep as tree roots in the woods..He was also a retired farmer, selflessly providing for his growing family and farm throughout his life.  All who knew Marlin cannot deny his unwavering pride for his 13 children, 19 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren, with whom he shared his passion for hunting, fishing, and agriculture.

Marlin will be deeply missed on this earth by his wife, Eljean, and their children: Darryl (Angie) Sollman, Marlene Sollman, Randy (Patty) Sollman, David Sollman, Ed (Nikki) Sollman, Dino (Laura) Sollman, Kristi (Guy) Garrison, Mike (Kathy) Sollman, and Michelle (Ben) Berning.  His thitry three granchildren will forever be wishing for one more RC Cola to share.  He will be reunited with his parents; his brothers Edmund, Herman, Charles, and Oscar; his Uncle Norman, and his children: Angela (Gary) Lamey, Teresa (Mark) Hisch, Darlene Sollman, and Mark Sollman, where we know he will have many wonderful memories to share.
