Rev. Robert A. McDonald, 87 of Princeton passed away Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh.

He was born December 17, 1930 in Gibson County to John Brenley and Flora Lee McDonald.

He had lived in Princeton for the past 22 years moving from Francisco.

Bob was a retired Minister after ministering for 51 years. He graduated from Francisco High School in 1949. He served in the U.S. Navy Reserves. He owned and operated the Sinclair service station in Francisco from 1962 to 1976, and drove a School Bus for many years. He worked for Kings Station Mine as an electrician until it closed and then went to work for Amax Coal in Millersburg until 1984. He was a member of the Francisco Lions Club and the U.M.W.A. He enjoyed taking his red 1948 Plymouth Coupe to car shows and loved watching IU Basketball.

Bob gave his life to Christ at the age of 37 and began preaching at the Francisco Nazarene Church for several years. He then founded the Francisco Gospel Ministry Church where he then retired from full time ministry just a few years ago.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Thelma (Whitehead) McDonald to whom he married in 1951; son, Michael McDonald of Newburgh; 1 sister and 1 brother; 2 grandchildren, Kimberley Smith and Hayden McDonald; 2 great grandchildren, Kyleigh and Kayden Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his aunt, Clyde Peavlor, who raised him; and his son, Kim McDonald in 2000.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday May 23, 2018 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with Rev. Jeff Bryant officiating. Burial will be in the Francisco Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
