Collins
Lewis Houseknecht, Jr., 84, of Princeton, passed away
Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Transcendent Healthcare in Owensville.
He
was born September 14, 1933 in Dauphin, PA to the late Collins Lewis Houseknecht, Sr. and Laura Ella (Neumeyer)
Houseknecht and he graduated from Sullivan County
High School in Pennsylvania.
He
served his country in the U. S. Navy for 4 years in Pensacola, FL and then
retired from the Naval Reserves after 40 years of service. He had lived in the
Princeton area since the early 1990’s coming from Wilkes-Barre, PA and formerly
of Montoursville, PA. He retired after 37 years from Bridon American Wire. He
was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Gibson County Antique
Machinery Club.
Surviving
are three children, Thomas James Houseknecht (Anne)
of State College, PA, Janet “Jan” Odessa Peck (John) of Cary, NC and Neal Allan
Houseknecht (Nancy) of Pensacola, FL; his companion
of 24 years, Barbara Kalanik of Princeton; a sister,
Wilma Lively of Fort Worth, TX; 6 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 22 great
grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Preceding
him in death were his parents and a sister, Marian Yonkin.
A
service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Colvin
Funeral Home in Princeton has been entrusted with arrangements.
