Mary
E. Wilkerson, age 81, of Fort Branch, Indiana passed away at Linda E. White
Hospice House in Evansville on 4/26/2018 surrounded by her family.
Mary
was born in Oakland City, Indiana to the late Amel
and Edna Deloris Reed of Fort Branch.
Mary
retired from GCARC where she was a van driver, and served as a teacher’s aid at the former Krissy Kay School in Princeton. Her
greatest work and joy in life was her family. She and her husband John,
were the parents of six children. They were blessed with 18 grandchildren, 23
great grandchildren with two on the way, and 10 great-great grandchildren.
Mary
was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband of 46 years John Wilkerson,
Sr. in 1998, son John Wilkerson Jr. a brother Wayne Reed, sisters
Patricia Reed, Carol Reed and Genny Ashworth; brothers-in-law Eugene, Donnie
and Dennis Wilkerson, and Bob Ashworth, and sister- in-law Pauline Hall.
Mary
is survived by her children Wanda (Jack) Miller, Pam (Eric) Bloom, Anita
(Larry) Elpers, Tena (Tracy) Martin and Carl (Diana)
Wilkerson; brother Richard Reed; sister Beverly (Billy) Warren; sisters-in-law
Luella (Jim) Spalding and Margaret Wilkerson; and several nieces and nephews.
Mary
is a member of Fort Branch Wesleyan Church, and St. Stephens United Church of
Christ.
Mary
enjoyed camping, fishing, mushroom hunting, bowling and any activity involving
her family. In recent years she enjoyed tending to her plants, watching the
birds on her bird feeders, watching Hallmark movies and St. Louis Cardinals
baseball, and playing games on her iPad.
Services
for Mary will be on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Stodghill
Funeral Home in Fort Branch, IN. Visitation will be on Monday, April 30, 2018
from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Stodghill Funeral Home
and again on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Burial
will be at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Fort Branch, IN following services.
Mary’s
family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Transcendent Health Care in
Owensville for the excellent care that she received while she was a resident,
also the staff at Progressive Health at Deaconess Midtown in Evansville.
Mary loved the staff at Progressive Health as if they were her own
family. The nurses and staff at Linda E. White Hospice House, thank you
so much for your kindness and compassion during Mom’s last days.
