Martha Helen Brokaw, 95, of Princeton, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Gibson General Skilled Nursing Facility in Princeton.
She was born September 18, 1922 in Princeton, IN to Patrick Byrne, Sr. and Anna (Ryman) Byrne.
Martha graduated from Indiana University. She enjoyed her time at IU and was very proud of her alma mater. She taught business classes for over 40 years at Princeton Community High School, where many local residents still remember her.
With her brother, Pat Byrne, she co-owned and managed finances for Byrne Motors from 1955 until 2008. Martha was a lifelong devoted member of the United Presbyterian Church in Princeton and an active member of Delta Kappa Gamma, a professional society for female educators.
She is survived by her niece, Georgianne Byrne Parshall and her husband, Jim Parshall of Westfield, IN along with their children, Evan and Riley. She adored her great-nephew and great-niece and was always thrilled to see them.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim Brokaw; and brothers, Paul “Bud” Byrne and Patrick “Pat” Byrne, Jr.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2018 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, IN, officiated by Pastor Vanlal Hruaia. Burial will follow in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Princeton. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Friday at Colvin Funeral Home.
