Glenna Ruth Morris,
98 of Francisco passed away Thursday, March 1, 2018 at the Good Samaritan
Nursing Home in Oakland City.
She was born April
3, 1919 in Marshalltown, Iowa to Oral O. and Dicia
Mae (Blair) Bodkins.
Ruth was a member of
the Francisco United Methodist Church. She had lived in Francisco for over 80
years. She retired as an L.P.N. working at the former Wirth Hospital in Oakland
City. She started when the hospital first opened and checked in the first
patient there. She worked in the shipyards where she was a welder, during W.W.
II. She actually welded on the L.S.T. that has been docked in Evansville. She
also owned and operated Shady Grove Nursing Home in Francisco for 15 years.
Ruth is survived by
a daughter, Carolyn Houchins (Don) of Francisco; 4
grandchildren, Elgin Houchins (Michelle), Heather Bichler, Holly Takacs (Dennis)
and Sara Morris, 10 great grandchildren and 5 great -great grandchildren.
She was preceded in
death by her parents; husband, Roy Morris in 1973; son, Kenneth Roy Morris in
1991; brothers, Oris and Calvin Bodkins; sister, Roma
June Gammage; and a great grandson, Matthew Houchins.
Funeral service will
be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the Corn Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland
City with Rev. Rick Lance officiating. Burial will follow in the Forsthye Cemetery near Oakland City. Visitation will be
from 11 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
