Mary A. Gibbs, 92, formerly of Princeton passed away on March 29th.
She had been a resident at the Memory Care Cottage at Good Samaritan Home in Oakland City since 2015.
She was the eldest daughter of Florence and Roland Pitman and was born November 17, 1925.
She graduated from Princeton High School and worked at JC Penney’s until her marriage to Eugene Gibbs, long time Princeton barber who preceded her in death in 2007. Mary was a lifelong member of the First Methodist Church (now Hillside Methodist Church) in Princeton. Many former students will remember her as school secretary at both Franklin Elementary School and Baldwin Heights School. She was also a long time member of the Village Homemakers and Beta Sigma Phi.
Mary enjoyed life and was proud of and deeply loved by her extended family. She is survived by her sister Carolee Gray of Shelter Island, NY; two daughters, Sara Gibbs Bell and husband of Dale, IN and Sandra Gibbs Hoboy and husband of Avondale, AZ; 5 grandchildren (Shelley Kishpaugh and family of Sarasota, FL; Berndt Hoboy and family of Atlanta, GA; Garrett Hoboy and family of Sedro Woolley, WA; Jackie Dillman and family and Leslie Bell both of Dale, IN) and 8 great grandchildren (Zachary, Isabel and Kai Kishpaugh; Keagan and Kaili Hoboy; Emma Hoboy; Ryan Bell and Phoebe Dillman).
Her much loved extended family include nieces Linda Yeryar and Pamela Reinhart both of Princeton, Teresa Weisheit of Owensville, Lynn Powell of Evansville and nephew Michael Gray of Shelter Island, NY. She was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law Mildred and Jack Reinhart, niece Alice Reinhart, sister-in-law, Mary Helen Gerkin; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Lawrence and Marjorie Gibbs all of Princeton.
Visitation will be at 10:00 on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, IN. Funeral service to follow at noon with Pastor Chris Neikirk officiating. Burial will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery.
