Charles Norman Williams, 73
of Newburgh, following an eight-year battle with Inclusion Body Myositis, went
to be with his Lord and Savior at the Linda E. White Hospice House Saturday
evening February 24, 2018.
Charlie was born August 1,
1944, in Princeton, Indiana, to Sam and Mildred (Kruse) Williams.
He graduated from Oakland
City High School and the University of Evansville with a BSEE degree. He worked
for Potter & Brumfield/Siemens for over 35 years in several engineering
positions. Charlie was a member of IEEE. The International Society for
Hybrid Microelectronics, Sigma Pi Sigma Honorary Physics Society, the
Engineering and Electronics Book Club, the U.S. Tennis Association, the Oakland
City Church of the Nazarene where had served on the church board, sang in the choir,
and taught Sunday School and received from church a distinguished service
award. He designed the new parsonage following a fire and led the design and
implementation of the church's video system.
Charlie was an avid tennis
player and following his retirement from Siemens in 1999, he worked at the
Evansville Country Club giving tennis lessons to kids from 3 to 83. Besides
tennis, Charlie enjoyed deer hunting and restoring cars.
Charlie was preceded in
death by his parents, a great grandchild, uncles and aunts.
He is survived by his wife
of 53 years, Charlene, sons David (Sherry), of Indianapolis, IN, and Michael
(Susanna), of Carmel, IN., granddaughters Crystal (Ryan) Biddle of Bloomington,
IL, Samantha Bader of Evansville, In, Suzanna Williams of Phoenix, AZ, Laura Deisher of Bloomington, IL, Alexis Williams of Milwaukee,
WI, and Lillian Williams of Carmel, IN; great-grandchildren Wyatt, Xander, Kellen, and Connor; and a sister Edna (Wayne)
Brumfield of Ft. Myers, FL; nieces and nephews.
Charlie's Celebration of
Life will be10:30 A.M. Friday March 2, 2018 at the Oakland City Church of the
Nazarene, 314 S. Jackson St. with Rev. Darin D. Nossett
officiating. The family will welcome friends from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday at
the Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel in Oakland City and from 8:30 A.M. until
services on Friday at the church, with burial in St. Lucas Cemetery near Ft. Branch,
IN. Charlene would like to thank the many wonderful caregivers and friends who
graciously helped care for Charlie over the past several years.
