Neill Tate, 67 of Princeton passed Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Gibson General Hospital in Princeton.
He was born April 9, 1950 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada to Major Conrad Tate of the Canadian Army and Elizabeth (Garber) Tate, M.D.
He moved with his family to Dunkirk, Indiana in 1955. Neill attended Dunkirk elementary and high school, graduating in 1968. He went on to Vincennes University, then settling in southern Indiana until his death. He was car salesman and buyer for several area auto dealerships, last working for Patriot Automotive, where he had worked for many years
His love of cars began in childhood and continued for most of his life. Fishing and boating were his passions, but he never ate anything that he caught. He enjoyed attending Mecum Auctions with his boss and being around so many cars and buying one or two.
Neill is survived by his sister, Jane Tate Mishler and her husband Steve; cousin, Mary Ellen Garber and 2 sons; cousin, John E. Garber M.D. and his wife Mary Ann and his 2 daughters.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his beloved aunt, Eleanor Jane Garber.
Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with Pastor Tammy Scheller officiating. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Services will conclude at the funeral home.
