Bobbie Gene (B.G.) Henning of Francisco IN, died peacefully on Wednesday, January 24th 2018 at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, IN.

He thrived for 91 years, never happier than when telling a tale from his adventurous life, always with a twinkle in his eye. His last days were spent surrounded by his family.

Survived by his loving children, Pamela (David) Ashcom, Kathy (David) Henning Rhody, Joe (Janice) Henning, and Nancy (Mark) Nobriga, by his younger brother Jack Henning, 7 dearly loved grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and the many friends he’d made during his long life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Cordelia Henning, his sister Earlene (Nene) Walker and by his eldest son, Eddie Russell Henning.

He served his country, enlisting in the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 as a tail-gunner during WWII on the USS Lexington. Returning to civilian life, he enjoyed a long career with Western Electric (aka Ma Bell) as an installer CWA local 5790, traveling throughout the country. Every morning, the first thing he did was unfurl the Stars & Stripes, proudly displaying the flag in front of every place he called home.

He retired in 1981, happy to have more time to teach his grandkids to ride motorcycles, and travel the U.S. on his Harley-Davidson. Along with his son Joe and favorite Daughter-in-law Janice, he enjoyed many cross country road trips as a Charter member of the Night Train Club. In 2003, he rode in the front of the Harley-Davidson 100th Anniversary parade in Milwaukee, delighted to show off his 1971 Super Glide Night Train.

B.G. was a member of the Erie Canal Beagle Club, American Legion, Oddfellows, VFW, and the Masonic Temple.

Funeral service for B.G. Henning will be at 2 pm (CST) on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City, officiated by Dan Henning. Visitation will be from noon to 2 pm (CST) on Sunday at the funeral home. Friends are also welcome to join the family for the graveside service at Francisco Cemetery following the service.
