Rachel Abby Vondrak of Kildeer, Illinois departed this life on November 20, 2017 in an accident at the family farm in Griffin, Indiana - her favorite place in the world.
She was born in Barrington, Illinois on August 2, 2006 to parents Shannon (Sharp) and Lance Vondrak, and was a beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece and cousin.
Rachel followed family tradition with her love for reading,
cooking and sewing. She was also active in Girl Scouts and Indian Princesses,
as well as an athlete in many sports such as basketball, soccer, volleyball and
softball. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who loved
witnessing and sharing in her zest for life. She had a personality that was
just larger than life and was a friend to everyone.
In addition to her parents, Rachel is survived by brother, Eric; grandparents
Richard and Susan Vondrak of Mundelein, Illinois;
aunts and uncles Laura and Mike Matthys of Kildeer, Illinois, Margo and John English of Owensville,
Indiana and Kenton and Perian Brett of Indianapolis,
Indiana; first cousins Melinda Spears, Mary-Hannah English, Alexis English,
Laura Brett, Emma Brett, Danielle Matthys and Brandon
Matthys; extended cousins, great-aunts and uncles.
Preceding her in death were grandparents Wayne and Lauretta Sharp of Griffin,
Indiana.
Visitation will be on Friday, November 24, 2017 from 3:00pm-8:00pm at Holders
Funeral Home in Owensville, Indiana.
Visitation will also be on Saturday, November 25, 2017 from 9:00am-11:00am at
Maumee General Baptist Church in Johnson, Indiana. Funeral services will begin
at 11:00am at the church with burial services following at Jordan Cemetery (Upper
Hills Cemetery) northeast of Griffin, IN.
