Michael G. Ellis, 67, of Hazleton, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville.
He was born on August 11, 1950 in Princeton, IN to Gene and Geneva (Tolbert) Ellis.
He graduated from Princeton High School in 1968 and from Vincennes University with an Associate Degree. He was a Journeyman Tool & Die Maker and a former teacher of Machine Trades at the North Gibson School Corp. He has been the Superintendent of Maintenance at Old Ben 2 in Petersburg. He was a member of the Hazleton Volunteer Fire Dept. for 52 years, and served as fire chief since 1989. He had also served on the Hazleton Town Board.
He is survived by his wife, Kyle Ellis of Hazleton; 2 children, Bryan Ellis (Rebecca Parker) of Princeton and Andrea DeVoy (Richard) of Hazleton; grandchildren, Jenna, Brylee and Walker Ellis; Jeremiah Kelley and Kyle DeVoy; brothers, Mark Ellis (Lynn) of Hazleton and Marvin Ellis (Heidi) of Dugger.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his step mother, Ruth Ellis.
Funeral service will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, officiated by Pastor Jeff Pinney. Burial will follow at Hazleton Community Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 pm on Monday at Colvin Funeral Home.
The Indiana Volunteer Fire Fighters Association will have a plaque presentation at 7:30 pm on Monday.
