Edward Joseph Reinhart, 69, of Fort Branch, IN, passed away at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, IN on October 14, 2017.
He was born to Edward William and Mary Louise (Fuhs) Reinhart on June 1, 1948 in Fort Branch, IN.
Ed graduated from Fort Branch High School in 1966. He entered the U.S. Navy Reserve in February of 1969 where he served two tours of duty in the Vietnam War on the USS Saint Paul and was honorably discharged in 1973. Ed worked as a Maintenance Mechanic at Alcoa for over 32 years. He also attended college at Indiana State University where he earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree. He was a very active member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Fort Branch, IN where he volunteered for many services. He is a member of the Fort Branch VFW Post #2714 where he was the Chaplin. He was active with the South Gibson Dollars for Scholars and the Fort Branch High School Alumni Association. He was also a past member of the South Gibson School Board, and he devoted many years to the Fort Branch Little League.
He is preceded in death by his father, Edward W. Reinhart.
Ed is survived by his loving wife Patricia (Adler) Reinhart of Fort Branch, IN, mother Mary Louise Reinhart of Princeton, IN, children; Timothy (Jill) Reinhart of Zionsville, IN, Brian (Tamara) Reinhart of Barrington, IL, Amy (Damon) Westmoreland of Brownsburg, IN, brothers; Michael (Jana) Reinhart of Lafayette, IN and Samuel Reinhart of Princeton, IN, sisters; Elaine Couch of Fort Branch, IN, Susan (Charles) Powers of Princeton, IN, and Gloria Jean Reinhart of Fort Branch, IN, grandchildren; Melanie, Evan, Andrew, and Zachary Reinhart, and numerous brother and sister in laws, nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Holy Cross Church in Fort Branch, IN with Fathers Tony Ernst and Ambrose Wonyanyi as co-celebrants. Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Stodghill Funeral Home in Fort Branch, IN from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Holy Cross Church from 10:00 AM until service time. Rosary Services will be on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Stodghill Funeral Home at 2:30 PM. Military Honors Ceremony will be at Holy Cross Cemetery following mass. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
