Jarvis J. Reed, 80, of Princeton, passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at his home.
He was born on May 5, 1937 in Oakland City, Indiana to the late George Abe and Janice W. (Joplin) Reed.
He was a graduate of Oakland City High School and Oakland City College, moving to Princeton in 1970. He retired in 2008 as Office Manager at the former City Motors and Sharrett Chevrolet Buick where he had worked since 1965. He was a member of the Princeton Elks Lodge #634 and the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Oakland City. Jarvis enjoyed woodworking, playing golf and was an avid reader. He was a former member of the Oakland City Country Club. He always played in the Disler Gang Golf Outing and had played in the DeMoss Open.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Barbara (Smith) Reed; sister-in-law, Quinith Pollock; nephews, Mike Fettinger (Mary), Miles Fettinger (Audra), Kevin Leonard (Marilyn) and Michael Workman (Elisa); nieces, Madeline Lynn (Mark) and Kim Wells (John); and several great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joseph Reed; sister, Geraldine “Geri” Fettinger; and special friend, Nick Goble.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Monday, July 24, 2017 at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton. Following visitation, there will be a procession to Montgomery Cemetery in Oakland City where a graveside service will be held, officiated by Allen Workman. Burial will follow.
