Mitchell T. Steckler, 11, of Haubstadt, IN, passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2017.  He was born on August 17, 2005, in Carmel, Indiana, to Phillip and Jessica (Schmitt) Steckler.

Mitch attended Sts. Peter and Paul School, where he received academic honors for the last three years.  He was a parishioner of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Haubstadt, where he was often a server.  He enjoyed playing baseball, basketball, participating in 4-H, and running cross country for the Jr. Titans.  He loved camping and the outdoors.  He enjoyed music, memorizing jokes, and loved to read.  He had a thirst for knowledge.  Mitch enjoyed helping his Papaw and uncles farm.  He also loved hunting, fishing, and flying with his Dad, and woodworking with his Grandpa.  He had an adventurous soul and lived each day to the fullest.  He was very witty and always brought a smile to the faces of those around him.  “Huntin’, Fishin’, and Lovin’ Every Day.”

Mitchell is survived by his parents, Phillip and Jessica (Schmitt) Steckler of Haubstadt, Indiana, five sisters, Madalynn, Elizabeth, Abigayle, Clara Mae, and Molly Steckler, and grandparents, Charles and Judy Schmitt and Stephen and Mary Steckler, all of Haubstadt.  He is also survived by his eight aunts, eight uncles, seventeen cousins, his dog and faithful companion, Duke, and many friends and other family members. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, June 19, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Haubstadt with co-celebrants, Fathers Tony Ernst and Eugene Schmitt.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 18, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Sts. Peter and Paul Family Life Center in Haubstadt, and again from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church on Monday.  Friends and family will gather at 1:00 p.m. at the Family Life Center to say the rosary prior to visitation on Sunday.
