John W. Wright, 90, of Princeton, passed away Friday, May 5, 2017 at home.
He was born November 26, 1926 in Owensville, Indiana to the late Providence and Katie (Wilson) Wright.
John served his country in the U. S. Navy during WW II. He was a member of Hillside United Methodist Church in Princeton. He and his wife Mae Dean had owned and operated a grocery store business, Wright's Grocery, which was on Ohio Street in Princeton and after that he was a butcher for Buehler's IGA in Vincennes.
He is survived by a son, Gary Wright (Teresa) of John's Island, SC; a granddaughter, Rechelle Glidewell (David) of Clarksville, TN; a great grandson, Ian Glidewell; a sister, Carol Sue Newtown of Vincennes; also Mike Watkins of Princeton, who was like an adopted son; and 7 nieces and nephews.
Preceding him death were his parents; a son, Stan Wright; his wife of 66 years, Mae Dean (Dearing) Wright in 2016; siblings, Eva Lucille Brown, Mary Evelyn Winvurne, Rowena Meadows and Oliver Wright.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 12, 2017, Graveside at Columbia White Church Cemetery in Princeton, with Rev. Jarmon Perkins officiating. Burial will follow with full military rites by Retired Military Veterans. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton has been entrusted with the service and is honored to serve the Wright family. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery.
