Karen Kay Smith, 59, of rural Patoka, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh.

She was born November 5, 1957 in Princeton.

Karen was a registered nurse and formerly worked for the WIC program and was former director of nursing at Forest Del Nursing Home in Princeton and most recently worked in the business office at Gibson General Hospital in Princeton.

She is survived by her husband, Jeff Smith to whom she was married on January 31, 1987; a son and his wife, Caleb and Sarah Smith of Patoka; her mother, June Rinsch of Princeton; her mother-in-law, Lois Smith of Princeton; and a cousin, Eva Mae and Jerry Lloyd of Cincinnati, OH.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joe Rinsch in 1989.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton with Rev. John Dunn officiating. Burial will follow at Decker Cemetery near Patoka. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until the hour of service on Sunday at Colvin Funeral Home.
