Betty Ruth Montgomery, 82, of Oakland City, Indiana passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Good Samaritan Home in Oakland City.
She was born January 20, 1935 in Owensville, IN to the late John Henry and Ida Mae (Barrett) Blythe.
She attended the McCullough Grove Baptist Church in Oakland City and loved to go to church and sing in the choir. She was a homemaker and loved to bake cakes and cookies. She also loved to go on drives and see the change of seasons. Everyone commented how sweet Betty was to everyone.
She is survived by her 6 children, James Henry Montgomery (Marcia) of Poseyville, Prentice Isaac Montgomery of Terre Haute, George Allen Montgomery (Rosalie) of Federalsburg, MD, Debra Ruth Montgomery of Terre Haute, Rebecca Mae Brown of Terre Haute and Mary Ann Bruce (Jeffery Keith) of Oakland City; 15 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; sister, Mae Marie Barker of Newburgh; and a brother, Bill S. Blythe of Phoenix, AZ.
She was preceded in death by her parents; several siblings; and a son-in-law, Patrick Craig Brown.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. (CDT) Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City, with Pastor Jacob Frantz officiating. Burial will be in the Montgomery Cemetery in Oakland City. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time (CDT) Saturday at the funeral home.
