Charles Dale McKannan, 80, of Patoka, passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Gibson General Hospital in Princeton.

He was born on July 16, 1936 in Gibson County to Cullen & Barbara (Newnum) McKannan.  

He served in the U.S. Marines during Korean conflict. He was retired from Alcoa after 30 years. He loved hunting, fishing, horses and loved to read.  He also served as the family historian.

He is survived by his wife of almost 42 years, Nancy McKannan of Patoka; 6 children:  Kathie (Bob) Merrill, Sandy Carnahan, John (Laura) Hughes, Tony (Mary) McKannan, Charla Lowrey & Cary McKannan; 3 sisters:  Dorothy Anthis, Mary Neal & Sherrell Page; 11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Wayne & Darrel McKannan, grandchild Logan Hughes & great grandchild Kaleigh G. Merrill.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 12, 2017 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, officiated by Rev. Mike Marsh.  Burial will be at the Bates Hill Cemetery in Yankeetown, IN. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. on Thursday at the Colvin Funeral Home.
