Jerry Franklin Sharp, Sr., 76, of Princeton, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh.
He was born April 22, 1941 in Switz City, Indiana to the late Frank Eugene and Margaret Jean (Polson) Sharp.
He had resided in Princeton for the past year, coming from Vandalia, IL. He was a member of The Tabernacle Church in Princeton. Jerry retired in 2000 from Duke Energy formerly PSI, where he had worked for 30 years. He was very fond of his grandmother, Kate Sharp that raised him and also his great aunt, Newell Jackson (both deceased).
He is survived by his wife, Donna Sue (Hildibrand) Sharp; 3 children, Christian Ray Sharp (Peggy) of Linton, IN, James David “J.D.” Sharp (Mindy) of Linton, and Jerry Franklin “Pup” Sharp Jr. (Audrey) of Griffin, IN; 7 grandchildren, Kyla Sharp, Chandra Sharp, Kathy Hill, Sheena Chavez, Brandon Sharp, Aurora Mayberry and Keara Sharp; 10 great grandchildren, Bracey, Corbyn, Madison, Bradley, Aiden, Faith, Dylan, Keri, “P. W.” and Otto; 2 sisters, Vickie and Donna Powell; and a brother, Michael Powell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sons, Jerry Bryan Sharp and Ronald Eugene Sharp; and a grandson, Corie Sharp.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. (CDT) Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with Pastor Randall Duncan officiating. Burial will follow at the Switz City Cemetery in Switz City, IN. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. (CDT) until the hour of service at the funeral home.
