Joseph Paul Evans, 91, of
Princeton, passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Gibson General Hospital
Skilled Nursing Unit in Princeton.
He was born on November 11,
1925 in Gibson County, IN to Willie and Ruth (Catt) Evans.
He was a retired teacher. He
taught for 36 years at Mt. Olympus, Baldwin Heights and Princeton Community
High School. He was a US Army Veteran. He served in WWII, where he was wounded
in the “Battle of the Bulge”. He was a member of Hillside United Methodist
Church. He taught Sunday school for over 60 years, which illustrated his
faithfulness to his God and his church. He is survived by his wife of 17 years,
Mary Evans of Princeton; his children, Phillip Evans (Kathy) of Tampa, FL and
Paula Carnahan (Michael) of El Paso, TX; Mike Gladish,
Claudia Blanton, Judy Ash, Cheryl McConnell, Toni Pollock and Alecia Rodgers;
20 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Edna Davis.
He was preceded in death by
his parents; 1st wife, Lorene Faye Evans; son, Stanley Evans; daughter, Jane
McCoy; granddaughter, Elaine Evans; brother, Frank Evans; and sister, Leona
Beasley.
Funeral Services will be
held at 10 am on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Hillside United Methodist Church,
828 West Archer Rd, Princeton, IN 47670, officiated by Pastor Chris Neikirk. Burial
will be in the Union Community Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 until 7 pm
on Wednesday at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, IN.
