Jeanette Carlile, 85, of Princeton, IN passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at her residence.

She was born in Princeton on Saturday, June 27, 1931 to Martin Ott and Hattie Lucretia (Rector) Smith, both of whom preceded her in death.


She is a 1949 graduate of Princeton High School and was employed at the brush factory here in Princeton for several years.

On Wednesday, March 21, 1951, she married Donald Carlile, who preceded her in death on August 10, 2014.

Jeanette and Don Carlile were instrumental in the operation of the AWANA program at Bethel Memorial Church of Princeton, where she was a member for many years. She was also a vital member of the nursery program at Bethel, where she loved caring for nursery children during the Sunday services as well as the AWANA program.

She is survived by her two sons, Mike (Marsha) Carlile of Princeton, IN, and Todd (Karen) Carlile of Trussville, AL. Other survivors include 5 grandchildren: Anne (Jim) Vaughan of Fairfield, IL; Emily (Beau) Fulk of Newburgh, IN; Ellen Carlile (fiancé Jake Robinson) of Princeton; Kayla (Chad) Bates of Springville, AL; and Lindsey (Chad) Rich of Fort Hood, TX; and 4 great grandchildren: Amelia Vaughan, Claire Fulk, Graham Bates and Ellie Rich.

She is preceded by her parents, her husband, Donald, and her brothers, Bob Smith, Martin Smith, Jr., James Shirley and William Smith.

The family has entrusted Doyle Funeral Home of Princeton with arrangements.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at the Columbia White Church Cemetery in Princeton with Pastor Kevin Wilson officiating.
