Melvin Hight Silkey, 84, of Fort Branch, IN, passed away at Columbia Health Center in Evansville, IN on February 27, 2017.
He was born to the late Estel and Florence (Craig) Silkey on September 24, 1932 in Gibson County, IN.
Melvin was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Bucksin,
IN. He retired from Emge Meat Packing after 37 years.
He was a veteran of the Korean War and belonged to the American Legion Post
#25.
Melvin is survived by his loving wife Kathleen (Hendricks) Silkey of Fort Branch, IN, sons Richard Melvin Silkey of Evansville, IN and David Brian Silkey of Fort Branch, IN, brothers Joe Silkey
of Princeton, IN and Hershel Silkey of Darmstadt, IN,
and sister Wanda Bradshaw of Greenwood, IN.
Services will be on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Stodghill Funeral Home located on highway 168 in Fort Branch, IN. Visitation will be Saturday, March 4, 2017 from 11:00 AM to service time at 2:00 PM. Burial will be at Walnut Hill Cemetery.
