Ronnie M. McCrary, 73 of rural Petersburg, passed away Monday, January 23, 2017 at his home. He was born Sept. 3, 1943 in Petersburg, to Ralph Everett and Blanche Marie (Johnson) McCrary. 

Ronnie graduated from Mt. Olympus High School.  He attended Olney Central College and Oakland City College.  He had lived in Pike county most of his life.  He was a coal miner, retiring from Old Ben Mine No 2.  He was a member of the U.M.W.A. Local #4343. He also worked in the oil fields at a young age helping his dad and later went to work for his brother.  He was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary in Kentucky where he was a former Flotilla Commander. He received his pilot’s license and was a ham radio operator.

He is survived by his wife Lydia Loveless of Petersburg; 2 children, Kelly Bond (Carmi), Charlestown, IN, JoAnn McCrary Robling (Jim) of Petersburg; 3 step-children, Laurie Beach (Mike) of Mackey, Gary Loveless (Claudia) of Evansville, and Linda Tipton (Todd) of Evansville; brother, Fred D. McCrary (Patsy) of Petersburg;  sister, Karen Seymour (Larry) of Petersburg; 8 grandchildren, Austin, Michaela, Kennedy, Sydney, Carson, Leah, Carter and Tyler; several nieces and nephews.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Froman McCrary; sister, Patricia Ann May; a grandson, Llogan Chase Beck.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday (central time) at the Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City, with Rev. Frank A. Coleman Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the White River Chapel Cemetery in Bowman. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
