Lois Evelyne (Jones) Lowry, 99, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at River Oaks Health Campus in Princeton.

She was born October 1, 1917 to the late Verlie Ellen (Emerson) & Marion Franklin Jones.

Lois graduated from Owensville High School class of 1935. She then graduated from Evansville College. She taught at Owensville High School and Marlette Elementary School for 20 years.

She married her husband, Howard Samuel Lowry on May 24, 1941. They were married 51 years before he passed away in 1993.

Lois was a member of the First Baptist Church, Bethlehem General Baptist Church, Indiana Club, the Owensville Chapter No. 455 of Order of Eastern Star, and sorority Delta Kappa Gama. She also was an avid quilter and vacationer, especially in the winter to Sebring, Florida.

She is survived by her children, Sandra Jane (Jerry) Williams, and Gordon Lee (Jane Lynn) Lowry; 5 grandchildren, Kevin (Amy) Williams, Kerry (Pam) Williams, Andy (Kristen) Lowry, Alisha (Jason) Sexton, and Kelly Williams; 7 great grandchildren, Jack & Avery Williams, Daniel & Bailey Williams, Tucker Lee & Lukas Howard Lowry, & Addisyn Lynn Sexton.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings, Loren (Bud) Jones, Lucille Garrett, and Lloyd Jones.

Services will be held at 1 pm on Friday January 6, 2017 at Bethlehem General Baptist Church with Dr. Darrell Hillhouse officiating. Burial will be in Owensville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 am until service time at the church. The family would like to personally thank the River Oaks Heath Care staff and the Southern Care Hospice staff for their passionate help.
