August Marcellus “Augie” Hirsch, Sr., age 81 of Evansville, passed away Friday, January 13, 2017 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville.

He was born August 22, 1935 in Haubstadt to the late Frank & Marie (Woehler) Hirsch. 

He enjoyed football and spending time with his family. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean War.

Also preceding him in death were 2 sons, August, Jr. and Alois (Eugene) Hirsch; 2 grandchildren, Mary Weiss and Evan Hirsch. 2 brothers, Bernuce and Roy Hirsch and 2 sisters, Jeanette Zimmerman and Kathleen Alexander. 

Augie is survived by his wife of 30 years, Melody, 3 sons, Curtis and Joseph (Ruthie) Hirsch and Michael (Randi) Riley. 2 daughters, Mary (Andy) Weiss and Angel Fuhs. 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. 2 sisters, Eileen Young and Mary Ellen Ziliak. 2 brothers, Jim and Frank Hirsch. Several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, January 17 at Wade Funeral Home in Haubstadt with burial following in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
