“Kay” Brown, 79, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 6, 2017 at Gibson
General Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility.
She was born April 24, 1937 in rural Princeton, and resided in Princeton since 1972, moving from Chesapeake, Va.
Kennelee was employed as an
editorial clerk for a number of years at the Princeton Daily Clarion. Among her
duties, she wrote obituaries, court records, stock and hog markets, Glancing
Back, and maintained weather data. Page 2 of the Clarion was her
responsibility.
She was also a professional artist, known for her copywrite
on Don E. Koala and soft sculptures. She was a member of Gold Star Wives of
America, Gibson County Fish and Wildlife Conservation Club, and a lifetime
member of VFW Post 1147 Ladies Auxiliary, where she was a past chairman of the
Girls Unit. She was formally a volunteer librarian at Franklin Elementary
School. Kennelee was an avid reader.
Preceding in death were her grandparents, William Guy and
Tillie Holsclaw White; her mother, Etta Leona White;
her husband, Donald W. Brown, who died in March of 1972; and a sister, Joanna
G. Ringham.
Her pride and joy were her three daughters whom survive:
Donna Kay (Mike) Offerman of Evansville; Carolyn Sue
Hayes of Mt. Carmel, Ill and Dr. Deborah Lynn Brown of Princeton. Kennelee often spoke of her daughters’ accomplishments, all
receiving post-secondary degrees. She is survived by brother Jack White of
Princeton, five grandchildren: Adam W. Hayes, Jason S. Hayes, Melissa S. Neely;
Joshua A. Offerman, Sarah K. Offerman;
two stepgrandsons, Jarod and Jason Offerman; five great-grandchildren, Jesse and Lainey Neely,
Elly and Ashton Hayes, Beau Hayes and two step-great grandchildren, Grant and
Grayson Offerman, several nieces and a nephew, and furbabies, Peyton, Olivia and Oliver.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January
11, 2017 at Doyle Funeral Home located at 520 S. Main St. Princeton, IN with
Pastor Kevin Wilson officiating. Internment
will take place in IOOF Cemetery of Princeton.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 from 4:00 until 8:00 pm at the
funeral home.
