Donald Howard Scales Sr., 80, of Patoka, passed away Sunday,
December 18, 2016 at the home of his son in Princeton.
He was born January 27, 1936 in Oakland City, Indiana to the
late Howard and Edna Madeline (Miller) Scales.
He had lived in Gibson County his entire lifetime. He served his
country as an engineer in the U.S. Army. He retired in 1998 from the former
Potter & Brumfield in Princeton and also was a former deputy town marshal
for the town of Patoka.
He is survived by his son, Donald Scales Jr. and his wife Becky
of Princeton; 7 grandchildren, Kyle Ray Scales (Tera), Brian Mark Geer, Harley
David and Haley Nichole Scales, Elysa Gale Mayo,
Austin Ray Mayo and Cody James Mayo; 2 great grandchildren, Kyle Ray Scales Jr.
and Jazlyn Rain Geer; a sister, Frances Marie “Frankie” Scott (Ed) of
Princeton; a brother, Randy Alan Scales (Shelia) of Princeton; also several
nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 55 years,
Peggy S. Scales, who died December 7, 2014 and they were married in Princeton
on February 14, 1959; 2 brothers, Michael Edward Scales in 1943 and Buddy
Scales in 1969; 3 sisters, Ethel Louise Scales in 1927, Betty Jo Land in 2005
and Thelma Jewel Belcher in 2014.
Funeral service will be at 12 p.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2016
at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, officiated by Pastor Johanna Sumner Webb.
Burial will follow at Columbia White Church Cemetery in Princeton. Visitation
will be from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. Wednesday at Colvin’s. Military rites will be
conducted by Retired Military Veterans.
