Robert “Bob” W. McCandless, 90, of Princeton, passed away on Monday, December 12, 2016 at River Oaks Health Campus in Princeton.
He was born on July 21, 1926 in Francisco, IN to Doyle and Beatrice (Boyer) McCandless.
He lived in Princeton all his married life. He retired in 1987, after over 30 years, as an electrician from Smith Electric Co. in Princeton. Following his retirement, he became a heart transplant recipient and has been a transplant survivor for the past 29 years. He served in the US Army Air Force during WWII. He was a member of Hillside United Methodist Church in Princeton. He was a longtime member of the former VFW Post #1147, former member of the Conservation Club, and a member of I.B.E.W. Local 16-Evansville. He loved quail hunting and I.U. Basketball.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Doris McCandless of Princeton; 3 sons, Michael McCandless (Cathy) of Carmel, IN, Mark McCandless (Kay) of Princeton and Brett McCandless (Lori) of Vincennes, IN; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Robert W. McCandless; and an infant sister, Norma Jean McCandless.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 am on Friday, December 16, 2016 at Hillside United Methodist Church, officiated by Pastor Chris Neikirk and Rev. Jarmon Perkins. Burial will be at the Francisco Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 pm on Thursday at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton and from 9 am until service time on Friday at the church. Military graveside services by Retired Military Veterans.
