Marjorie D. Gibbs, 95, of
Princeton, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at The
Waters in Princeton.
She was born July 10, 1921
in Winslow and was raised in Pike County.
She worked at Potter &
Brumfield and also in retail around the Princeton square, including Wanda’s
dress shop, Gilbert Stephens and the Five and Dime store. She had attended the
Nazarene church where she taught Sunday school and bible school for many years
and then most recently the Friendship Christian Church. She was a former member
of the Gibson County Home Ec Club, Salvation Army
Auxiliary and was a T.O.P.S. leader for several years. She was an animal lover,
an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and an avid reader until she lost her sight. She
crocheted afghans and baby blankets and sold many in the local area.
She is survived by her
sister-in-law, Mary Gibbs of Oakland City; nieces, Sandy Hoboy
and family of Arizona, Sara Bell and family of Dale, IN and special niece, Lynn
(Mike) Powell of Evansville and their children, Jason Powell of Fishers and
Jessica Burch of Louisville, Ky; nephew, Ralph Davis
of Princeton; cousins; special friend and caregiver, Debbie Alexander; and her
special feline friend, Samantha.
She was preceded in death by
her parents, Carl and Nellie (Davis) Dyer; and her husband of 64 years,
Lawrence Gibbs in 2007.
Funeral Services will be
held at 2 PM on Monday, January 2, 2017 at the Colvin Funeral Home in
Princeton, with Rev. Larry Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant
Ridge Cemetery in Petersburg. Visitation will be from 12 noon until service
time on Monday at the Colvin Funeral Home. Special thanks to the Welcome Home
Health Care staff and caregiver, Robin Moy and the Association for the Blind
for all their help given to Marjorie.
