Mary A. Bruce 89 of Oakland City entered rest on Saturday Dec.3,2016 at her daughters home in Petersburg.

She was born on Oct. 27,1927 in Troy IN, to Ephrim & Viola (Orander) Olberding

Mary went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 3, 2016.

She was a member of First Pentecostal Church of Oakland City, where she attended many years. Mary was a house wife and operated Bruce’s Fair Park Grocery with her husband George for many years. Mary truly loved her 12 children and over 90 grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mary always put everyone else first and was “Mom” to many and will be missed.

She is preceded in death by husband George Bruce, sons; Garland & Donnie Bruce, daughter Joan Wright, brothers; Jim & Eddie Olberding, Beaulis, Bobby, Burley and Bernard McCandless, sister Betty Cooper. 

Survived by her children: Betty Young of Marengo, IN, George Bruce Jr. Winslow, IN, Carol Vickers & Yvonne Poteet of Petersburg, Richard Bruce, Michael Bruce, Gloria Morgan, Kevin Bruce, Rebecca Houchin, all of Oakland City, IN. Brother Beuthal “Pat” McCandless of Princeton, IN, sister Beulah Cooper of Oakland City, IN

Services will be Thursday December 8, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at First Pentecostal Church in Oakland City, with burial in Davis Cemetery, Rev. George Bruce & Rev. Gene Burkhart will be officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday December 7, from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel, and Thursday 10:00 A.M. until service time at the church.
