MARY MAXINE BATES JUDD SMITH of Houston, Texas passed away on November 27, 2016.

She was born December 9, 1925 in Princeton, Indiana to Louis and Helen Bates.

She was a longtime member of Broadway Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Roy Kenneth Smith; son, James Robert Judd; brothers, Louis, Jr. and Ret. Col. James D. Bates.

Survivors include her daughter Dr. Cynthia (Thomas) Chappell, Houston, Texas, sister Helen L. Cummings, Houston, grandsons, Kevin (David Sweeney) and Michael (Elizabeth) Chappell, great grandsons, Jacob and Andrew Chappell, stepsons, Kenneth G. (Sherri) Smith, Princeton, Dick R. (Linda) Smith, Fort Branch, four step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

Burial will be at a later date in Montgomery Cemetery, Oakland City.
