Bernard F. McCandless, 79, of Oakland City, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2016 at his home.

He was born on July 6, 1937 in Pike County to Joseph and Viola (Orander) McCandless.

He was self-employed for 45 years and was one of the most hardworking men out there. He loved music and always said “I did it my way”.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Vickie McCandless; 2 children, Luke and Mary McCandless; 2 grandchildren, Julia McCandless and Brody Smith; brother, Beuthal “Pat” McCandless; and 2 sisters, Beulah Cooper and Mary Bruce.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Bernie Joe McCandless in 2001; 1 sister and 4 brothers.

There will be a family burial at a later date at Davis Cemetery in Pike County. Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City is assisting the family.
