Norwood Arthur Dale Adler "Woody", 91, of the Oakland City/ Mackey area went to his heavenly home Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016, peacefully at his residence.
Mr. Adler was born Thursday, Sept. 17, 1925 in Mackey, to Henry and Grace (Kohlmeier) Adler, both of which have preceded.
On June 18, 1949, in Paducah, Kentucky, he was married to Ruth Ellen Hochstetler, who preceded on Dec. 22, 2000.
Mr. Adler was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force. During his service he was a tail-gunner in a B-24 bomber, successfully completing 24 missions. He was able to participate in the most recent Honor Flight. After his time in the service, he became the director of research and development and was one of the original founders of Windsor Plastics. Many of the processes he developed are presently being used.
He was a member of the Society of Plastic Engineers as well as a lifelong member of St. John Church located in Buckskin.
He is survived by his sons; Kerry Adler of Mackey, Dean (Sherri) Adler of Mackey and Steve (Elaine) Adler of Mackey; daughter Jamie Houchin of Evansville; grandchildren Austin and Kyle Adler, Jaret Strickland and Erica Kueber; and great grandchildren J.W. and Justin Strickland and Hunter Kueber.
Woody is preceded in death by his parent's, wife Ruth and brother Maurice Adler "Tuny" He is also preceded by his grandsons Jordan Houchin and Levi Aaron Adler.
A private family service was conducted at St. John Cemetery in Buckskin with Pastor Doug Gorman officiating and military honors performed by the Retired Veterans' Group.
A public celebration of Woody's life is at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016 at St. John Church in Buckskin.
The family has entrusted Doyle Funeral Home of Princeton with arrangements.
