Olive “Jean” Shoulders, 91, of Princeton, went to the arms of Jesus on Sunday, October 2, 2016.
She was born on March 16, 1925, the sixth of seven children to Ralph and Olive Carithers.
On February 23, 1947 she married James Shoulders.
She graduated from the Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in 1946. Jean worked as an OB Nurse at Gibson General Hospital for more than 30 years. She was very active through the years as a 4-H leader, Sunbonnett Bells Home Ec Club member, Past Regent of General John Gibson Chapter, DAR and as a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Princeton.
She is survived by her 4 children, Carol Shoulders, Joyce (Fred) Kantner, Bill (Lynn) Shoulders and Janis (Dean) Bixler; 4 grandchildren, Bryce and Jill Kantner, Brett (Akane) Bixler and Kelley Bixler; 1 great grandson, Kaevon Johnson; brother, Joe P Carithers; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 60 years, James; sisters, Mary Martha Harrell and Flo Newton; and brothers, Jim, Sam and Billy Bob Carithers.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, October 7, 2016 at the United Presbyterian Church, 130 E State St., Princeton, IN with Rev. Vanlal Hruaia officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Princeton. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 PM on Thursday and from 10 AM until service time on Friday at the United Presbyterian Church. Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton has been entrusted with arrangements.
