Violet (Robb) Coberly 90, of Spurgeon, IN passed away at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Oakland City on October 25, 2016.
Violet was born July 13, 1926, in Auckland, New Zealand to the late Wharepaia and Ella Robb.
She met her future husband Marshall Coberly
when he was stationed in New Zealand during WWII. After the war ended, he
returned to New Zealand, and he and Violet were married for 53 years until his
passing in 1999. They moved to the U.S. in 1947.
Violet enjoyed music, crafts, reading, cooking,
shopping, and taught several different Sunday school classes at Spurgeon United
Methodist Church where she was a member for 62 years. Her favorite pastime was
being with her children and grandchildren. She was a cosmetologist and had a
salon in her home for 10 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers
Robert, Monty, and Mervyn; Sisters Mary, Isabelle, and Margaret; daughter Ella
Rae Coberly; granddaughter Malia Wira.
She is survived by daughters: Karen (Lloyd) Jones, Candeeda Grubb, both of Oakland City; son: Robert (Pam) Coberly of Spurgeon; sister: Zena Lee of Auckland, NZ; 7
grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Services will be Friday October 28, 2016 at 3:00 P.M. at Lamb Basham Memorial Chapel with burial in Spurgeon Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday 1:00 P.M. until service time. Rev. Lloyd Jones officiating.
