Kenneth Lee Sharp, age 79, of Plano, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2016 at his home.
He was born July 29, 1937 in Somerville, the son of Eugene and Avis (Jenkins) Sharp.
Kenneth was united in marriage Oct. 11, 1958 to the former Roberta Brock and they spent the next 57 happy years together. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Mr. Sharp served his country proudly as a member of the United States Army in Korea from 1956-1958. Kenneth was employed for 33 years by Caterpillar, Inc. in Aurora, Illinois, as a machine operator and then a machine repairman until his retirement. He enjoyed gardening and liked to repair small engines. Kenneth loved to entertain his great grandchildren and help people in his community wherever needed. He was the ultimate handyman.
He is survived by his wife, Roberta Sharp, Plano; his son, Christopher (Crystal) Sharp, Yorkville, Illinois; his daughter, Diana (David) Stout, Plano; his grandsons, Mikel Stout, Patrick (Mallory) Stout, Johnathan (Stephanie) Stout, and Timothy Stout; his seven grandchildren; his brothers, Gerald Sharp, Francisco, and Robert (Lyla) Sharp, Bloomington; his sisters, Elizabeth Nelson, Oakland City, and Betty Lepeau, Oakland City, ; his sister-in-law, Judy Sharp of Chatham, Illinois; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Avis Sharp; his brothers, George and Russell Sharp; and his grandson, Nathaniel Stout.
Friends may visit in Plano from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, 2016 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 1010 W. South St., Plano. Funeral services are 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, 2016 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home in Plano.
Friends may visit in Somerville from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 29, 2016 at the Somerville Wesleyan Church, 101 Lincoln St., Somerville IN. Funeral Services are 10 a.m. at the Somerville Wesleyan Church in Somerville. Interment follows in the Somerville Cemetery.
