Annabel V. (Sokeland) Barrett, 97, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at The Cottages of Good Samaritan Home in Oakland City.

She was born in Gibson County on August 17, 1918 to the late Martin Welborn and Estel Ethel (McGregor) Sokeland.

Annabel was a homemaker and had worked as a cook at the Oak Meadow Golf Club.

Survivors include her children, Harold (Jo Ann) Barrett, Karen Keith of Owensville, Connie (Riley) Wiggins of Saraland, Alabama, Ron (Jo) Barrett of Johnson, Doyin (Patty) Barrett of Princeton, Kenny (Sandy) Barrett of Oden, Kent Barrett of Owensville; 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 23 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Rosalie Wallace of AZ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ben Barrett, son, Gary Barrett; brothers, Haskell, Millard, Golla and Martin Sokeland; sister, Bonnamae Williams.

Services will be on Saturday, Aug 6, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Holders Funeral Home with Bob Douglas officiating. Burial will be in the Antioch Cemetery in Owensville. Visitation will be held on Friday from 5-7 p.m. and again on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the service time.
