Etta “Joyce” Speedy, 87, of Ft. Branch, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN. She was born December 14, 1928 in Oakland City, IN to William and Harriet (Clabough) Foley. She was a nurse’s aide at Gibson General Hospital for 26 years. She loved to travel to Texas to visit with family each spring. She and her husband liked to camp and enjoy outdoor activities. Her travels included annual winter trips to Florida with her husband, Glenn. With the help of her sister, she made Hats for Heart Month for newborn children and crocheted items for the homeless.
She is survived by her children, Glenn E. (Pam) Speedy, Linda Rutledge, Royce Speedy and Elaine (Rick) Sides; daughter-in-law, Susan Speedy; 17 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; and sister, Juanita Utley.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn Speedy in 2005; son, Bill Speedy; son-in-law, Byron Rutledge; 4 brothers, Lewis, James, Ross and Kenneth Foley; and 3 sisters, Mary O’Leary, Estella Herman and Marjorie Evans.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with Pastor Don Utley officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Hill Cemetery in Ft. Branch. Visitation will be from 12 until 2 PM on Tuesday at the Colvin Funeral Home.
