Patricia A. Bowen, 70, of Fort Branch, IN passed away at home surrounded by her family.

She was born to the late Gilda Duke and adopted by her loving parents, the late George W. and Virginia Anne (Loper) Imel, Jr.

She devoted her life to mentoring and tutoring school-aged children and loved volunteering for her grandchildren’s classes. Her children and grandchildren were the loves of her life. She was a very giving person and always put others above herself. Her lifetime friends were just like family.

Specials gratitude to Gentiva Hospice, Kathy Yates, and Elizabeth Large for making her final days more pleasant and comfortable.

Besides her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by her stepmother Delphia Imel, Brother Danny Oliver and the father of her children David K. Higdon Sr. of Evansville, IN.

She is survived by her chidren Dr. David Higdon, Jr. of Kennesaw, GA, Jody (Tommy) Puro-Bennett of Princeton, IN, Rachelle (Butch) Davis of Princeton, IN, Tracy (Cliff) Vinson of Hazelton, IN, Todd Higdon of Fort Branch, IN, sisters Mary Ellen Sergent of Portsmouth, VA, Leslye Hill of Chesapeake, VA, Kathleen Yates of Lacey Springs, AL, Debbie Claxton of Virginia Beach, VA, brothers George Imel III of Chesapeake, VA, Mitch Oliver of Princeton, IN, Dennis Stallard of Brooklyn, New York, grandchildren Alescia Bradshaw, Heather Colvin, Jennifer Brown, Shelby Karges, Gretchen Barna, Brittney Fryrear, Jared Vinson, Julie Vittori, Stephanie Dewus, great grandchildren Davis, Regan, and Carson Bradshaw, Devin Jernigan, Clark Brown, Brenton and Brayden Fryrear, Avery and Finnick Vinson, Jack Vittori, Austin Dewus, and serveral nieces and nephews.

Graveside services for Patricia will be on Saturday July 9, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Walnut Hill Cemetery with Pastor Gary Arnold officiating. Visitation will be at Stodghill Funeral Home in Fort Branch, IN on highway 168 on Saturday July 9, 2016 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
