Larry Kent Barrett, 83, of Newburgh, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the Deaconess VNA Charlier Hospice Center in Evansville, IN, surrounded by his family.
He was born on September 16, 1932 in Oakland City, IN to Maurice and Hilda (Davis) Barrett.
He lived in Newburgh for the past 20 years and was formerly of Oakland City and Princeton. He was the retired owner/operator of Barrett’s Refrigeration. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Korean War. He loved to fish.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Barrett of Newburgh, to whom he was married on July 13, 1956 at the Spurgeon General Baptist Church; a daughter, Susan Barrett-Vukovich (Tom) of Newburgh; 4 grandchildren, Nicole Vukovich, Jaclyn Vukovich, John L. Vukovich and Lacey Vukovich-Short (Ryan); 6 great grandchildren, Malia, Cameron, Madden, Hadleigh, Ella and Barrett; also many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Virginia Barrett.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon (CDT) on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City, officiated by Pastor Gene Burkhart. Burial will be at the Montgomery Cemetery in Oakland City. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home. Military graveside services by Oakland City American Legion.
