Helen Marie
Donovan, 91, a lifetime resident of Hazleton, IN passed away on Monday, May 2,
2016 at Good Samaritan Hospital Hospice Unit in Vincennes, IN.
She was born
July 23, 1924 in Hazleton to Henry Edward and Cora (Handkins)
Lane, and lived in the house she was born in for over 91 years.
During WW II she
worked as a secretary at Republic Aviation in Evansville, and later worked at
Mitchell Furniture Co. in Vincennes and then retired from Hazleton Industries
in Hazleton. She was a member of the Hazleton United Methodist Church and was
the church musician for 70 years and the financial secretary for 28 years. She
also played the organ for Trinity United Methodist Church and at other area
churches, especially for revivals.
She is survived
by her 2 sons, Donald Ralph Donovan (Sharon) of Rockville, IN and Max James
Donovan of Hazleton; 3 grandchildren, Peter Ralph Donovan, Ann Donovan Ault
(Jesse) and Natalie Kay Donovan.
She was preceded
in death by her parents; husband, Ralph James Donovan on August 30, 1981; an
infant sister; brother, Elijah Edward Lane; brother-in-law, Hugh Blaize; and her sister, Ruby Lane Blaize
on May 1, 2016.
Funeral services
will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at the Hazleton United
Methodist Church, 114 S. Main St., Hazleton, IN 47640, Pastor Sam Polito, Pastor Perry Mager and
family friend Ray Tromley will be officiating. Burial
will follow at the Hazleton Community Cemetery.
Visitation will
be from 3 until 8 p.m. on Friday at the church and again from 8 a.m. until the
service on Saturday. All times listed are CDT. Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton
has been entrusted with arrangements. The family extends “Thanks” to
Bridgepoint Health Campus, Good Samaritan Hospital 3rd floor staff and hospice
unit staff.
