L. Audrene Cook, of
Hazleton, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Good Samaritan Hospital in
Vincennes.
She was born April 28, 1938 in Fountain,
Michigan.
Audrene was a
homemaker with a background in law enforcement. She loved her family and was of
the Methodist faith.
She is survived by her 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Randy & Valada Peil of Hazleton, Michael
& Teresa Peil of Cicero, IN and Joe & Laurie Peil of Cicero, IN; step daughters, Cindy Cox (John) of
Illinois and Pam Cox of Indiana; siblings are her sister, Carolyn Hauweghen (Gary) of Phoenix, AZ and brothers, Ed Mercer of
Alabama and Gaiel Hurrell
(Sharon) of Coloma, Michigan; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and many
nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Gerald “Curly” Cook in
2006; father, E. D. Mercer of Michigan; mother, Estella “Pepper” Hurrell in 2009 and step father, Sidney “Red” Hurrell; a sister, Janet A. Wheeler of Jackson, Michigan; a
sister-in-law, Dot Mercer of Alabama; and her companion, Don McKibben of
Vincennes.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2016
at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton. Burial will follow at the Columbia
White Church Cemetery in Princeton.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the
hour of service on Wednesday.
