Carolyn A. Mingay, 88, of Evansville passed away surrounded by family at 6:15 pm, Monday, April 11, 2016.
Carolyn was born February 1, 1928 in Haubstadt, Indiana the daughter of the late Leo and Catherine Dewig.
She was a 1946 graduate of Haubstadt High School where she was a cheerleader and involved in many other activities. Her main joy in her young life was helping her father run The Sunrise Dairy, where she learned to pasteurize milk. Carolyn was a mother, homemaker, and a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Newburgh.
She is survived by children, Deborah Humpert (Ronald), Cynthia McClanahan (Randal), Robert Minnette, David Minnette, Timothy Minnette (Rhonda), Gregory Minnette, and Scott Minnette; sisters, Betty Weiss, Mary Breivogel, and Doris Schmitt; 18 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Robert Minnette, second husband, John Mingay; brothers, Francis, Clarence, and Matthew “Buddy” Dewig; sisters, Elfredia Meyer, Germaine Relleke and Aline Benkert.
The family would like to extend a thank you to Deaconess VNA Hospice for their care. And a special thank you to Rebekah, her granddaughter, for taking such good care of our mother.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am, Friday, April 15, 2016, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 625 Frame Rd., Newburgh with Father Henry Kuykendall and Father Tom Kessler officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 2 pm until 7 pm, Thursday, April 14, 2016, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Ave., Evansville where a Rosary Service will be held at 6 pm. Friends may visit again from 10 am until time of Mass at 11 am, Friday, April 15, 2016, at the church.
