Joanna Kay (Truitt) Mason LPN, 63 of Louisville, Kentucky and originally from Oakland City, Indiana, passed away at Baptist East Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky Friday on April 8th, 2016.

She was born on October 30th, 1952 in Oakland City to John and Joyce Truitt of Oakland City. 

Joanna enjoyed a rich career as a nurse, lifelong advocate for the Humane Society, a love for the arts and literature and most of all, a passionate love and devotion to her family, children and grandchildren.  Her compassion, creativity, smile and curiosity for the world made a lasting impact on the lives of many.

She is preceded in death by her sister and best friend, Deanna Briggs. 

Surviving are her two sons and their families: Daniel Mason (John Nordgauer) of Louisville, Kentucky and Patrick (Lori) Mason of Houston, Texas. She had three beloved grandchildren: Sam, Alli and Nicole. Also survived by her parents, John and Joyce Truitt of Oakland City and two brothers, Mike and Kent Truitt both
of Winslow, IN and several nieces and nephews. 

A celebration of her life will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday April 12,2016 at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel in Oakland city with Fr. Jeff Gatlin presiding.

Visitation will be From 10:00 A.M. until services on Tuesday.
