Lois Jean Blanton, 88, of Hazleton passed
away Saturday, April 30, 2016 at the Gibson General Hospital Skilled Nursing
Facility in Princeton.
She was born Aug. 2, 1927 in Hazleton, to Elza and Susie (Abel) Byrd.
Lois,
after graduating high school attended Vincennes Business College. She was
a homemaker but had worked in her earlier years as a secretary for Prudential
Insurance. She lived in Hazleton all of her life and enjoyed spending time with
her family, especially her grandchildren. She attended the Cathedral Church in
Evansville.
She is
survived by her husband, Matt Blanton; 5 children Sara (Rick) Morrison of
Princeton, Linda (David) Skelton of Mt Olympus, Jim (Lora) Blanton of Mt.
Olympus, John Blanton of Aurora, IL and Richard Blanton of Evansville; 7
grandchildren, Maria (Jeff) Showalter, Keri (Troy)Compton, Leah (Troy) Moody,
Bailey, Jake, Rachel and Luke Blanton, 9 great-grandchildren and 6 great
great-grandchildren.
She was
preceded in death by her parents, son Ronnie Blanton, grandson Matt Byerly, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
Funeral
services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at the Colvin Funeral Home in
Princeton with Pastor Alan Shelby officiating. Burial will follow in the
Hazleton Community Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday
at the funeral home.
