Norma E. Broadhurst, 94, formerly of Princeton, peacefully passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at her son’s home in Frederick, Maryland.
Norma was born August 23, 1921 in Shelburn, IN to Roy and Jane Grace (Pearson) Daugherty, but lived most of her life in Gibson County.
She attended Owensville High School for 2 years then graduated from Princeton High School in 1939. During her high school years she played women’s basketball and softball and was also a cheerleader.
Norma married Ronald, the love of her life, in March 1940. She moved her two young children across country by train to the Naval Air Station Litchfield Park, just outside of Phoenix, Arizona to be with her husband during WWII. After the war, Norma and her family returned to Princeton where she worked at Demoss Rexall Drug Store and then at the local Sears Store until retiring in 1984. Norma and Ronald enjoyed retired life together in Princeton for over 22 years.
She is survived by her children, Ron (Libby) Broadhurst of Frederick, MD, Jane Ann (Colby) Littlepage of French Lick, IN and Roy Mark Broadhurst of Frederick, MD; 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, J. Ronald Broadhurst in 2006; daughter, Linda Sokeland in 2015; and sister, Carol Ann Stott. Graveside
Services will be held at 1 PM on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at the Columbia White Church Cemetery in Princeton, officiated by Rev. Andrew Johnson. Burial will follow.
There will be no visitation. Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, IN has been trusted with arrangements.
