Virginia M. Holland Tapley White, age 86, of Princeton, passed away on Friday, February 12, 2016 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana.
Virginia was born January 1, 1930, in Mt. Carmel, IL to Emery & Lula (Cantwell) Holland, both of which precede.
Virginia’s life was centered around her family, was mainly a
homemaker but did work at Buehler’s IGA for a period of 10 years as a Courtesy
Clerk.
On December 15, 1979, in Princeton, IN, she was married to
Jack White. Together they enjoyed camping, family, bird watching and traveling.
Each year Virginia and Jack would travel out west to visit her brother in
Arizona. They also enjoyed traveling to the Gatlinburg area for Thanksgiving
and then to the Osprey Hotel for their Christmas Party.
She was a member of the VFW Post #2714 Ladies Auxiliary, and
was also a member of the Women’s Bowling Association for over 40 years and was
also a member of Hillside United Methodist.
Virginia is survived by her husband of 36 years, Jack White
of Princeton, IN; son, Melvin Dale (Janice Marie) Tapley
Sr. also of Princeton, IN. Other survivors include daughters; Gale (Jim) Troy
of Patoka, Jackie White of Princeton, IN & Denise (Arthur) Wint of Francisco, IN & brothers; Harold Holland of
Prescott, AZ, Bill Holland of Princeton, IN, sisters; Janet Sue (Raymond) Drew
of Princeton, IN, Nancy Dossett of Nashville, TN,
Karen Slaughter also of Nashville, TN, Phyllis Drew of Princeton, IN and Cathy
Smith of Princeton, IN, 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, 1st husband Howard M. Tapley and son, Jeffrey L. Tapley. She is also preceded by brother; Robert Holland and sisters; Joan Miskell, Greta Mitchell & Loretta Holland.
The family has entrusted Doyle Funeral Home with the
arrangements.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, February
16, 2016 at Doyle Funeral Home located at 520 S. Main St. Princeton, IN, with
Rev. Chris Neikirk officiating. Internment
will be in Columbia White Church Cemetery in Princeton.
