Magdalen C. (Hoefling) Schmitt of Haubstadt, IN passed away February 16, 2016 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.

She was born to the late Sylvester and Amelia (Kissel) Hoefling in Haubstadt, IN.

Magdalen graduated from Haubstadt High School and attended Lockyear Business College.

She was married to Anthony J. Schmitt for 62 years before he passed away in 2011.

Besides her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a daughter Doris Schmitt and a sister Anna Catherine Hoefling.

Magdalen is survived by her children Donna (Sid) Hayden of Kokomo, IN, Randy Schmitt of Evansville, IN, Annette (Joe) Beane of Bloomington, IN, Karen (Tom) Newmaster of Elberfeld, IN, Elaine (Dave) Rexing, Brian (Joyce) Schmitt and Krista (Patrick) Gick all of Haubstadt, IN, 26 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. James Catholic Church in Haubstadt, IN on Saturday February 20, 2016 at 10:00 AM with visitation from 9:00 AM until service time. Officiants for the mass will be Father Kenneth Betz, Father Tony Ernst, and Father John Boeglin.

Visitation will be on Friday February 19, 2016 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Stodghill Funeral Home located on Highway 168 in Fort Branch, IN.
