He was born on March 1,1925 in Glezen
IN. to Dello & Mayme (DeJarnett)
Houchins.
Forrest was preceded in death by his Parents, Sister; Thelma
(Sally) Robing and
Brothers; Jack, Eldon, Oliver B. and Vernon E. Houchins.
He was a W.W. II Veteran serving in the Navy Sea Bees. His
focus in life was serving God.
Forrest was a member of Littles General Baptist Church,
serving as deacon, song leader, Sunday School Superintendent and served on
Board of Trustees. Forrest was active in church and community for years,
performing outreach services to area nursing homes. Also, he played the guitar,
taught guitar lessons and enjoyed singing. Also, Forrest was a member of
Peace Notes Quartet. He was employed in Chrysler in Evansville for 10 years and
had worked for 20 years at J&H in Elberfeld, IN.
Survived by wife: Wanda Lee English Houcins
whom he married on July 3,1948
Children: Terrell D. (Shelley) Houchins of
Washington, IN, Mitchell G. Houchins of Petersburg,
IN and Thessa F. Young of Longmont, CO. Sister; Dixie
Willis of Petersburg, IN Grandchildren: Andrea (Barry) Clegg of Vincennes,
IN, Robin(Matt) Tricker of Danville, IN, Jason &
Stephanie Houchins of Petersburg, IN, Natalie &
Jamie Young of Longmont, Co and
Lindsay(Orlando) Dothard of Rock Island, IL.
(12) Great Grandchildren several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be on 11:00 A.M. (Oakland City Time) Monday February
29,2016 at Lamb-Basham Memorial in Oakland City with burial in Walnut Hills
Cemetery in Petersburg. Rev. Keith Jenkins officiating,
Visitation from 9:00 A.M. will be from until services on Monday.
